The heat was unbearable; the heat index had to be over 130 degrees, the sun hung over the horizon as if it consumed the entire sky. Like an orbital battle station, beaming to the ground melting things never meant to melt. Light refracted off the ground into your body broiling your soul, causing your mind to see things that were never meant to be seen, and the horizon and objects around it to blur into a foggy haze.

So intense was the sun that the beautiful colors around you were lost to a void of darkness in contrast to the immense flame in the sky. Standing on an asphalt causeway melting beneath you, the lush landscaping fused with the massive hill of the giant coaster.  With the heat, haze, and hell around you, you could have sworn the coaster was alive as a serpent sent from hell to bring your life to a swift end.
